There is a Pipe
The following is a visionary report from Brad, excerpted from our book Climbing the Rope to God: Mystical Teaching and Testimony (2017).

Decades ago I went to a visionary classroom where my grandfather came to me and said, “There is a pipe in Guadalupe.” He also gave me an otter bag for holding a medicine pipe. Months later, I was given a pipe and otter bag by an Ojibwa medicine man from Canada.
After that I continued to wonder about the words my grandfather spoke. In the world of mystery there are usually multiple meanings and multiple prescriptions for action that point to multiple realities. I wondered whether the pipe was more than the sacred pipe that is smoked. Is it also part of a holy pipeline? Is it the pipe organ in a Mexican cathedral honoring The Virgin of Guadalupe? Is it the musical pipe or flute that Jesus played when he taught about the mystery of holy dance in the Gnostic Gospels, saying, “I will pipe, Dance all of you . . .?” Is it the pipe that delivers holy water in a spiritual classroom? Is it the hollow pipe each of us is called to become?
Last night the pipe returned. I was sent in vision to my old high school in Smithville, Missouri where I grew up. There I found a pipe coming up from the ground that went through various valves before connecting to the main line of the high school’s pipes. Lying on the ground near it was a piece of special luminous pipe, barely over a foot long, unlike anything ever seen before and definitely not of this world. If you looked at this pipe, you’d have the feeling that you recognize it—that you once received it, that you worked with it, that it was/is/shall be yours, and that you may have even placed it there on the ground.
In the dream, several days passed and I returned to see a crowd of people surrounding the pipe. It had been discovered. I started to approach the scene, but instantly sensed that it was better to not be seen near it. I could see that people were not pleased at the discovery of this mysterious object. It was unknown to them and they worried about its influence and whether the world would dramatically change because of its return. The police and FBI were investigating the scene. This is when I remembered that my fingerprints were on that pipe and that I could never do anything to catch their attention because it would link me to the luminous pipe. I knew the authorities would stop at nothing to prevent others from knowing what the pipe might do in the hands of its owner.
The price of having held and known and received the luminous pipe is that you are forever linked to it. The spiritual mission you are called to fulfill must be very carefully accomplished, with the least attention drawn to yourself. Holy work requires the invisibility of self. The pipe itself will always rest near a holy place. Nothing can interfere with your spiritual closeness to it, but drawing unnecessary attention to yourself threatens the opportunity to use the pipe in the destined manner. The pipe carries many things across many realities, including delivery of crude spiritual oil, refined spiritual oil, holy oil, holy water, and holy smoke.
The pipe resides in the highest mystery, yet it is close at hand. The more you effectively use it as intended, the less people are able see you. Paradoxically, the more people notice you next to it, the more distant from the pipe you become. You already know how to be invisible and get the job done—how to do what needs to be done without causing unnecessary distraction. You also know how to draw too much attention to yourself.
When near the sacred pipe, do not fill the room with too much chatter. That only draws the wrong kind of attention. Do not show off what you know or that you are familiar with the pipe. Do not take all the oxygen from the room. Be less noticed. Let the pipe do what it needs to do. Get out of the way so mystery may flow and be felt. Now is the time to be the wisest you have ever been. Draw the least attention to yourself as you move closer to the luminous pipeline. Again, the less you are noticed being close to the pipe, the closer to the pipe your life becomes.
When eventually you get so close that you disappear and become the pipe, no one will notice except God. On those occasions when something happens through you, it will bear God’s fingerprints and not yours.
